Anche quest’anno l’autunno in Friuli Venezia Giulia si apre con eventi culturali e enogastronomici che coinvolgono tutta la regione, dai paesi carnici al carso triestino.


Si parte il 6 novembre fino al mese di dicembre con “Sabato in Wine” a Udine, evento organizzato dal Movimento Turismo del Vino, si ripete ogni primo sabato del mese con gite organizzate, offrendo la possibilità agli eno-appassionati di visitare diverse aziende vinicole e sfruttando l’occasione di una giornata in buona compagnia e con un pregiato calice di vino.


Si prosegue all’insegna del divertimento e dello svago, sfruttando l’autunno come pretesto per partecipare alla 5° edizione de “Il mese della Castagna e della Ribolla” che avrà luogo dal 7 al 14 novembre presso la Fortezza di Osoppo (UD), dove si potrà assaporare la dolcezza della ribolla friulana, accompagnata dalle calde castagne dei banchetti.


Per chi invece preferisce un pranzo vero e proprio, magari di elevate doti culinarie, c’è la possibilità di recarsi nel capoluogo della regione, dove l’evento “A Trieste la cucina d’autunno 2010” si terrà il 10 novembre presso il Salone degli Incanti sulla Riva Sauro; l’iniziativa prevede la partecipazione di 20 chef del Consorzio Friuli Venezia Giulia che, affiancati da 20 vignaioli, cucineranno le loro specialità davanti agli ospiti. Si potranno degustare i prosciutti di San Daniele, il Cotto di Trieste, il Montasio e i Salumi d’Oca, per poi finire in bellezza con dolci, sorbetti, caffè, e infusi d’erbe.


Ad aprire dicembre invece sarà il tradizionale evento sempre più conosciuto e apprezzato del Tarvisiano: la “Festa di San Nicolò e i Krampus”, evento tipico anche della Carinzia in Austria e in Slovenia, si tiene a Tarvisio il 5 dicembre di ogni anno per celebrare la leggenda dei Krampus (artiglio in tedesco antico): sono giovani travestiti da diavoli come vuole la tradizione che, insieme a San Nicolò vestito da vescovo, sfilano per le vie innevate con dei focolai, suonando i loro campanacci; premiano i bambini che sono stati buoni e puniscono i disobbedienti. Inoltre vengono allestiti banchetti di vin brulè, castagne, dolci, cioccolata calda e tè.


La Carnia invece propone qualcosa di più tranquillo e in armonia con l’arrivo del Natale: l’8 dicembre a Paularo ci sarà il “Mercatino sotto l’albero di Natale”, evento organizzato dalla Pro Loco del paese, che sarà accompagnato da un concerto della Filarmonica “F. Nascimbeni”.


In tutto questo Udine ha pensato anche all’intrattenimento dei bambini e non solo degli adulti: “Cu lis mans: Stella di Natale”, evento che ha luogo mercoledì 29 dicembre alle ore 17:00 presso la Biblioteca Civica V. Joppi di Udine. Ogni quarto mercoledì del mese si riserva una giornata dedicata ad un artista o artigiano della provincia, dando spazio in questo caso ai bambini dai 4 agli 8 anni; in questa occasione il tema sarà “La Stella di Natale”.

The autumn in Friuli Venezia Giulia: the events in November and December.


This year too the autumn in Friuli Venezia Giulia opens with events both cultural and food and wine related in nature which will involve the entire region, from Carnic communities to those of Trieste’s Carso region.


Commencing on the 6th of November, the events continue until the end of December with “Sabato in Wine” (“Wine Saturday”) in Udine, an event organized by the Movimento Turismo del Vino (Wine Tourism Movement) which is repeated every first Saturday of the month, with organized tours offering wine-lovers the chance to visit a variety of local wine producers and furthermore to pass the day in good company and with a glass of fine wine.


Regarding fun and entertainment, the autumn will be used as a pretext for participation in the 5th edition of “Il mese della Castagna e della Ribolla” (“The month of Chestnuts and Ribolla Wine”) which will take place from the 7th to the 14th of December at Fortezza di Osoppo (UD) (Fort Osoppo in Udine Province), where one can taste the sweetness of the Friulian Ribolla wine, accompanied by roasted chestnuts from the stands.


For those who instead prefer a true and proper lunch, perhaps of elevated culinary quality, one might make a visit to the region’s capital city where the event “A Trieste la cucina d’autunno 2010” (“The Cuisine of Autumn 2010 in Trieste”) will take place on the 10th of November at the Salone degli Incanti (Hall of Enchantments) on the Riva Sauro; the event features the participation of 20 chefs from the Consorzio Friuli Venezia Giulia (Friuli Venezia Giulia Society) who, accompanied by 20 vine-dressers, will prepare their specialties in front of the guests. Guests will be able to taste the hams of San Daniele, the Cotto (cooked ham) of Trieste, Montasio cheese and the Salumi d’Oca (cold cuts made with goose meat), finishing in luxury with deserts, sorbets, coffee and herbal infusions.


Starting off December will be the best known and most looked forward to of the Tarvisian region’s traditional events: the “Feast of Saint Nicholas and the Krampus”, an event also typical to the Carinzia region of Austria (Kärnten) and of Slovenia (Koroška). The event is held in Tarvisio on the 5th of December every year to celebrate the legend of Krampus (“claw” in Old German). According to the tradition, young men dressed as the devil known as Krampus, together with Saint Nicholas dressed in Bishops robes, roam the snow-covered streets carrying torches and ringing their cowbells; they reward the children who have been good and punish those who have been disobedient. Added to this, stands selling mulled wine, chestnuts, sweets, hot chocolate and teas line the streets.


The Carnia region offers instead something of a more tranquil nature, in harmony with the arrival of Christmas; on the 8th of December the town of Paularo will host the “Mercatino sotto l’albero di Natale” (“the Market under the Christmas Tree”), an event organized by the town’s events and promotions group (the “Pro Loco”) and which will feature a concert from the F.Nascimbeni Philharmonic Orchestra.
Udine has also thought at length about entertainment for children and not solely for adults: “Cu lis mans: Stella di Natale” (With Your Hands: The Christmas Star), an event which will take place on Wednesday the 29th of December at 5.00 p.m. at La Biblioteca Civica V. Joppi di Udine (the V. Joppi Udine Public Library). Every fourth Wednesday of the month a day is dedicated to children from 4 to 8 years old; on this occasion the theme will be “La Stella di Natale” (“The Christmas Star”).
